Richard, and his associate Kevin Conner, were both associated some years ago with Victor Hall, Murray Wylie, and Doug Watt of B.C.F. and understandably much of their theological basis is similar.
Kevin wrote in his foreward to this book '...the book that Richard has written is really a panoramic view of "end-time events". It covers the basics of the Book of Revelation from the period of the Church through to the coming of Christ and Millenial intimations. Undoubtedly, some of these areas... are controversial. While the reader may not agree with all that is written... there is much that can be agreed upon.'
Well worth reading - in my opinion - and the clarity of its explanatory message is due to its excellent style. The author discusses briefly the various views held on end-times, and then presents what (to me) is the only obvious understanding that can be pieced together from what the Bible actually says.
Like Jeff Hammond - and indeed many others - the writer also looks forward to the 'Hope of Unity' of Christ's Body, which can never acchieved until we set aside our self-centred differences and 'humble ourselves under God's mighty hand'.
There is an ISBN (0 646 28090 2) - so there should not any great difficulty in obtaining a copy.
'The Bible and its End-Time Events' is a very good précis about the end-times, and I believe only equalled technically by my friend Doug Watt's much smaller book called 'God and Time' which describes a narrower perspective of the same subject, and which is available through Brisbane Christian Fellowship.
Although the Bible had been a textbook to me over my lifetime, and I had known and practiced "Family Altar" in my own home, I did not have that fire of the Holy Spirit as a driving force in my life.
It was not until 1951 that I was touched in a new way, following the revival which began in Canada in 1948. In that revival a renewed hunger for the Word of God fell on many Christians throughout the world, and praise and worship became a central part of our services.
Everything I heard and studied was looked at from the perspective of how I could pass on this information to others in a practical and meaningful way. To this end, I began to draw charts of the teaching I had heard. I would get up early in the morning, spend an hour in the Word and prayer before leaving for secular employment. Prayer on the way, prayer during the day, plus study time during breaks and lunch hours, and finally more study at night became the pattern of my life during this period, trying to set out and clarify the Word of God for others.
The end result was some 500 charts, most of them coming into being in the late 1950's and early 1960's. In this book I am trying to lay down some of the great truths in brief chart form, so that the reader can get a touch of what I received and what I am still receiving from God, and be accounted worthy to escape the things yet to come upon this earth.
God is looking for a faithful, believing people who love His Word and will live by His Principles, being obedient to Him in all things. He has placed in the church the five-fold ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ... "Till all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the fullness of Christ..." Ephesians 4:13
I trust that these pages will help you to understand some of the pattern of God, even as they have helped me during their preparation over the years.
